To us, a theater is born...

Prologue

Michael and Vikki Myers were professional actors in the Chicago theater community, but
had never heard of theater being done in a church. They'd performed acclaimed musicals
and plays, but soon discovered the best script is Scripture.

Act One: The '90s

A pastor asks two members to do an experiment. It takes root.

Act Two: The 00s

A new century, a new pastor, a new direction for the company.

Act Three: The 20-Teens

On their own: Serving needs, answering calls, but needing help.

ACT ONE

The 1990s

In late summer 1994, Norman P. Anderson, senior pastor of Elk Grove (IL) Baptist Church, asks new church members Michael and Vikki Myers if they would try an experiment: Perform a drama scene before an outreach sermon.

They do. God acts.

Ministry Milestone:
What's in a Name?

1997
Attending a Sunday School class on using spiritual gifts, Mike is introduced to the idea of using talents for maximum kingdom impact. The Elk Grove Baptist Church drama ministry is renamed as Kingdom Impact Theater: The Drama Ministry of Elk Grove Baptist Church, sharing the stage with Kingdom Puppets, an EGBC children’s ministry.

ACT TWO

The 2000s

The century changes, so do church demographics:

Pastor Norm retires, new staff arrives; the last original ensemble students graduate, ministry sponsorship switches from Christian Education to Worship Ministry.

The scope of media in performance expands.

Ministry Milestone:
Three are Chosen

2004 -- As EGBC Worship Coordinator, Mike asks church members Vikki Myers, Carla Brown and Michelle Perez to form a trio -- which will become “Chos3n” (pronounced Chosen 3) -- to fill-in and lead Sunday musical worship to help the transition from choir-led to ensemble-led music. Months later, the women form a musical ensemble which will become under the auspices of KIT and begin presenting at churches, women’s conferences and community venues.

ACT THREE

The 20-Teens

Forming as a sole proprietorship, then a non-profit, "Kingdom Impact Theater" positions to embrace new possibilities for solo ministry shows, concerts and passing our artistic and Scriptural lessons to others.

Vikki hears God's voice in the lyrics of "pop" songs, re-envisions them as gospel messages; Michael develops theater-style Scripture sermons. speaking requests for both arrive.

The fruition of dreams: to eternity and beyond.

Ministry Milestone:
Change of Season

2017 -- Mike’s season as an associate pastor at Elk Grove Baptist Church ends, providing new options to focus on KIT Ministries opportunities to merge performing, teaching, writing and networking media developed over two decades under one umbrella. One opportunity is an introduction to Artists in Christian Testimony Intl. which becomes KIT's parent not-for-profit organization .
